Native Bee Bottle

$42.00 $25.20

This is a perfect nesting habitat for native bees with a sleek, modern look! The same idea as a birdhouse, the native bee bottle provides a safe space for gentle bees to call home. They return the favor by pollinating your backyard and neighborhood to create a richer, healthier natural environment.

This habitat naturally attracts mason bees and leafcutter bees, native bees who are not hive defenders, so stinging rarely happens, but should a sting occur, there is no barb or venom. They have extraordinary pollinating abilities, a single mason bee's productivity comparable to around 100 honeybees, and a sing'e leafcutter bee's comparable to around 20 honeybees. They mostly pollinate flowers, vegetables, and spring fruit trees.

Includes: upcycled wine bottle, bee nesting tubes, wool felt hanger with steel grommet, and information for attracting and keeping these beneficial bees.

Each cardboard tube in the bottle will hold 5-6 bee eggs.

Directions Summary: Hang your bee bottle about 6-8 feet off the ground, facing south for maximum sun exposure, and sheltered from the rain (i.e. under the eave of a roof or protected by tree branches). A local mud source (from rain) and nearby blooms will give the bees exactly what they need.
